Shoba

Shoba’s musical journey began at age 8, when his voice first soared in his mother’s church choir in Durban, South Africa. From that moment, music became his calling. He rose to fame as one-third of the pioneering Afro-house group Shana, then launched his own label, Shoba Music (formerly Shota Music), producing for icons like L’vovo, Kelly Khumalo, Professor, and Big Nuz, while collaborating with heavyweights like DJ Euphonik and Culoe De Song. His 2012 breakout solo album Afro-Rawmantic lit up dance floors with anthems like Sengikhathele and Abantu Bami. In 2015, he released a global dance record featuring the legendary Timmy Regisford, followed by a UK tour that expanded his international presence. A personal chapter soon followed—after his son Mpilo’s cancer diagnosis, Shoba took a step back to focus on family and spiritual healing. This led to a profound transformation, including the ancestral name change from ‘Shota’ to ‘Shoba.’ In 2023, he returned to the stage with a standout performance at Black Coffee’s Madison Square Garden show. By 2024, he was touring Europe as a live performer and DJ, reclaiming the spotlight with purpose and power. Now a resident artist at BeBeach in Dubai, Shoba continues to bring his soulful, high-energy sets to stages around the world
